150 years behind us.

One very big race day ahead.

On Saturday, 12 June 2027, the Walgett Jockey Club will celebrate an incredible milestone - 150 years of the Walgett Races.

For generations, race day has been part of the fabric of Walgett. Horses and jockeys, trainers and bookmakers, fashions on the field, familiar faces and families returning year after year. While plenty has changed over 150 years, the tradition of coming together for a great day of country racing has remained.

In 2027, we want to celebrate not only the history of the Walgett Races, but the people, memories and stories that have shaped it.

Our Races. Our History.

Some of the best pieces of our history aren't found in official records. They're sitting in old photo albums, tucked away in cupboards or still being told around kitchen tables.

And we want to find them.

We're inviting past and present racegoers, racing families, former Walgett locals and members of the wider community to share their piece of Walgett Races history.

It could be an old race-day photograph, race book or newspaper clipping. A family connection to the club. A story about a memorable horse, jockey or trainer. A fashion moment from years gone by. Or simply a race-day memory that's stayed with you.

Dig through the photo albums. Ask your parents and grandparents. Tell us the stories we might not otherwise know.

Your contributions will help us capture and celebrate the story of the Walgett Races as we head towards this once-in-a-generation race day.

And while we're looking back at 150 remarkable years, we're also getting ready to create some new history.
